The Instant Coffee Revolution

!±8± The Instant Coffee Revolution

For coffee lovers, having that first morning cup in minutes is a valuable feature of any brewing machine. Keurig makes a variety of models, designed for providing instant coffee in single servings.

The way these brands work is by using k-cups or coffee pods, or single serving packets, placed in the top of the machine. Water is added to the reservoir and the brew is ready in a few minutes. The advantages of using this type of machine are endless.

First, the K-cups come in a wide range of brands, brews and flavors. Mixed packages of different brands or flavors are offered. This is a great feature for couples who have different tastes in flavors or types of brews.

Though the machine only makes one cup at a time, it can allow the user to make many varieties. This is a good idea for giving guests a choice of their favorite brews or brands. It gives the user the ability to try different brews in the same day. An individual may prefer one type of brew in the morning and another later in the day.

The use of instant pods makes clean up simpler. There is no basket or filter to wash out. The pods are enclosed and are simply removed, when the machine is done brewing. The only cleaning the machine may require is the occasional cycle of water or cleaner, especially if your water is prone to deposits or hard water scales.

The machine makes one cup at a time and does it very quickly. A few minutes is faster than the typical ten minutes other devices take, to brew an entire pot. In addition, there is left over coffee from a pot, to be poured down the drain. This makes the device very cost effective. Imagine the money wasted when unused brew gets poured down the drain on a daily basis.

They come in a wide range of styles, shapes and finishes. There are many models with a stainless steel finish, for the modern kitchen. Others come in a black finish or a combination of black with steel trim. They are typically well made and dependable for daily use.

Manufacturers offer models suitable for home and for the office. Americans are very fond of their coffee and this new era in coffee makers seem to fit our current society well, based on the increasing popularity of these machines.

Keurig B70 Maintenance: What To Do When All Else Fails

!±8± Keurig B70 Maintenance: What To Do When All Else Fails

The Keurig B70 Platinum is the flagship single-cup coffee maker from the Vermont coffee maker. The B70 makes a single cup of coffee in a fraction of the time it would take to brew a whole pot. It is practically self-cleaning and requires almost no maintenance. It operates efficiently and handles your coffee needs reliably over the years and quickly becomes your best friend in the morning.

That's when everything works like it should. However, from time to time your Keurig B70 will decide to become a stubborn step-child and refuse to produce a full cup. It will send you an LCD screen message to de-scale and steadfastly not complete a full cycle. After running it through the de-scale cycle over and over you still get no results.

So what's going on? Is the B70 broken for good? More often than not this issue is caused by trapped water or air bubbles inside the heating tubing. Here's how you can fix your Keurig quickly. Before you do, make sure to unplug the Keurig from the power source or wall and remove the tray that holds the coffee cup. Then follow these steps.

First, remove any spent k-cups in the chamber and allow the unit to cool down if it is still warm from running through the de-scaling cycles.

On the next step this may differ depending on what model you have. On the Keurig Mini, you cannot remove the water reservoir so proceed to the next step. On the Keurig B70 you need to remove the reservoir so the contents do not spill.

Take the Keurig to the kitchen sink and turn it upside down. Hold it over the sink and let any excess water flow out of the unit. Water may come out of areas you don't anticipate so use caution. Give your Keurig a little shake while still suspended over the sink. Do not be rough but you are looking to make sure you get all the air or water out of the machine. This air is trapped by water in the tubing around the heating element and needs to be released.

Tap the back of the unit carefully to ensure that any remaining water and air escape. That's it!

Double-check that no water is on the power cord and proceed to plug the machine back in. Run it through a complete cycle using either an empty k-cup or with no coffee pod at all. Hopefully, your B70 should be back to good as new and providing you with years of awesome coffee.
